The Badass Magic of a Crockpot---Chicken Bone Broth Recipe--Spirit Cleanse
Don't get me wrong, it's super tasty but about an hour after you would eat it, you would be rolling around on the floor asking----WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Slow cooking is something I have just recently embraced. Growing up in the midwest I used to hear a lot about unhealthy recipes for the crockpot. You know the kind--throw in a can of cream of mushroom soup , add some fried onion flakes, and some frozen peas.
So, I started making dieta friendly soups at home so that I wouldn't need to think about what I could and couldn't eat. Now I just make huge batches of meals and alternate. A new thing I just got on was making bone broth with all of the leftover chicken bones I have from eating roasted chicken all week. I use this broth to make soups from later on. I will post a few soup recipes next week--but for now here is a recipe that I tried and loved.
There are many healthy and healing benefits to bone broth. To read more about it, check out:
Bones of 1 organic whole chicken
8 c of water
4 -6 stalks of celery, finely chopped
½ white or yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 inch ginger root, finely chopped
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
Place all of the ingredients in the crockpot on low and cook for 8-10 hours and then strain the broth out and voila!
